“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step,” says Lao Tzu, and so does a journey of 2,448 miles! Today is day one of our mega exploration of Route 66! This was a tough one, starting in LA, because 90% of your day will be traffic, just the stops in this video alone ended up costing north of $30 in paid parking, and there are few opportunities to pull over even if you see something amazing, but still! ROUTE 66 has begun! A few more days poking around the route in California and we’ll be on the open road past the traffic, on our way to Chicago, Illinois, and back! I hope you’re ready!
Today we see the original 1926 terminus (end) of Route 66 in Los Angeles, and then it’s later official end point in Santa Monica, CA – followed by the more traditional ending point (or in our case, starting point) of the Santa Monica pier!
It may be the “End of the Trail” for westbound Route 66 travelers, but for us, its the start of another Randomland Adventure!
